Over the last hundred years, we handed that role over to technology. It works — yet along the way, a neighbour stopped being needed.

And when they are — they don’t know it.

How it works

You can’t always reach for your phone.

  1. One motion.

    On your wrist — no unlocking, no explaining where you are.

  2. The signal moves around you, not up.

    The device broadcasts an alert directly to devices within tens of metres. No internet, no server, no trail in the cloud.

  3. People nearby know.

    The notification reaches only people who have the app and are close enough to make it in time. No one else receives anything.

On-the-spot response buys time for emergency services on their way.

So is Hive. Before it covers a district, it must work on a single street.

FIRST PILOT

Gemeente Oude IJsselstreek — the “Safer Streets After Sunset” challenge in the Startup in Residence Achterhoek programme. Using a prototype, we are testing whether the signal reaches the app and how people respond.
